The situation in N.E. Syria is out of control. The Invasion by Turkey, which Turkey has said was coming since early 2022 is still in preperation stage, which means they are shelling villages, using armed drones against militias and civilians, and using proxy forces, including ISIS, to attack the Syrian Democratic Forces, including YPG and the YPJ,and to attack civilains as well.
I don't need to remind the White House that the Voice Of America warned of a Turkish invasion back on May of this year, or that the V.O.A. also mentioned that the Syrian Democratic Forces would, in the event of turkish agression, have to pivot away from fighting ISIS in non -kurdish areas and shift back to defending the homeland. So, we have Turkey using ISIS operatives in N.E. syria and we have the primary forces fighting ISIS at present being diverted away from this task, both because of actions by Turkey. Turkey's claims that the PKK is terrorist and that the #YPG and #YPJ are aggressive are easily misproven. Turkey wants to promote the hegemony of Turkey and to insert itself into Syria.
The A.A.N.E.S. has been self administered for years, and Rojava was established in 2012.
Turkey is a poor choice for an ally if it behaves in the same manner in Syria that Russia behaves in Ukraine.
The U.S. needs to support a no-fly zone for #Rojava and for all of N.E. Syria.
