The details of the case are very likely well known to the Department, and the struggle to secure Leonard's freedom is quite public. This, I simply quoted from James Reynolds, U.S. Attorney, retired and the former prosecutor in Leonard's case. He points out that Leonard did nothing wrong, that the prosecutor's office found no evidence of wrongdoing by Leonard on Pine Ridge Reservation. He also points out that the dangerous conditions that prevailed on the Pine Ridge Reservation in those days were in part brought about by the F.B.I and that Leonard alone has paid the full price, that being his 46 year incarceration for the tragic events that occurred there. It should be noted that the two other co- defendants in the same case were acquitted because they acted in self defense. I have also written to the White House on numerous occasions. This can be done by going to www.whitehouse.gov/contact/       Here is the text of my last letter to the White House. Some of the language in the above paragraph appears in this letter too.

(Dear President Biden) I write today to urge the Pardon of Leonard Peltier. Leonard has served 46 years in prison for a crime he did not commit and it is extremely unlikely that such a conviction would be secured if he were put on trial today. The details of the case are very likely well known to the Department, and the struggle to secure Leonard's freedom is quite public. This, I wish to mention James Reynolds, U.S. Attorney, retired and the former prosecutor in Leonard's case. He points out that Leonard did nothing wrong, that the prosecutor's office found no evidence of wrongdoing by Leonard on Pine Ridge Reservation. He also points out that the dangerous conditions that prevailed on the Pine Ridge Reservation in those days were in part brought about by the F.B.I. and that Leonard alone has paid the full price, that being his 46 year incarceration for the tragic events that occurred there. It should be noted that the two other co- defendants in the same case were acquitted because they acted in self defense.    The full letter was addressed to President Joe Biden c/o The White House, but I attach a link here, for your information: https://gfbv-voices.org/en/sensation-in-the-justice-system-i-was-wrong-us-state-attorney-says-about-convicting-peltier/

I suggest that the excellent award of the Presidential Medal of Freedom to Fred D. Gray Sr represents a willingness on the part of the White House to maintain the United States' position and reputation as a place where human rights matter, a place where the errors and injustices of history may be remembered and redressed, and a place where justice can prevail.
 Thank You
